Governance Structure

Transparent leadership and democratic decision-making

Kasi People's First operates under a democratic governance structure that ensures transparency, accountability, and meaningful participation of all members in organizational decision-making.

Governance Principles

Democratic Decision-Making

All major decisions are made through democratic processes, with members having equal voice and voting rights in organizational matters.

Transparency

All governance processes, decisions, and financial matters are conducted with full transparency and are accessible to all members.

Accountability

Leadership and management are accountable to the membership and must report regularly on organizational activities and performance.

Separation of Powers

Clear separation between governance (policy-making) and management (operations) ensures checks and balances within the organization.

Organizational Structure

General Assembly

The General Assembly is the highest decision-making body of Kasi People's First. It consists of all registered members and meets at least annually to:

  • Elect the Executive Committee
  • Approve the annual budget and financial reports
  • Review and amend the constitution
  • Make decisions on major policy matters
  • Approve strategic plans and organizational direction

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is elected by the General Assembly and is responsible for:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the organization
  • Implementing decisions of the General Assembly
  • Managing financial resources and ensuring accountability
  • Representing the organization in external engagements
  • Reporting regularly to the membership

The Executive Committee typically includes positions such as Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, and additional committee members as determined by the constitution.

Sub-Committees

The Executive Committee may establish sub-committees to focus on specific areas of work, such as:

  • Program Development Committee
  • Finance and Audit Committee
  • Membership and Outreach Committee
  • Advocacy and Policy Committee

Sub-committees report to the Executive Committee and include both committee members and interested general members.

Leadership & Elections

Election Process

All leadership positions are filled through democratic elections. Elections are conducted according to procedures outlined in the constitution, ensuring fairness, transparency, and equal opportunity for all members.

Term Limits

Leadership positions have defined term limits to ensure regular renewal and prevent concentration of power. Terms are specified in the constitution.

Removal Process

The constitution provides mechanisms for the removal of leaders who fail to fulfill their responsibilities or violate organizational principles, ensuring accountability at all levels.

Financial Governance

Financial management is a critical aspect of our governance structure:

  • All financial transactions are recorded and reported regularly
  • Annual budgets are approved by the General Assembly
  • Financial reports are audited and made available to all members
  • Expenditure decisions follow clear authorization procedures
  • Financial records are maintained according to best practices

Member Participation

Active participation of members is essential to effective governance. Members are encouraged to:

  • Attend General Assembly meetings and participate in discussions
  • Stand for election to leadership positions
  • Join sub-committees and working groups
  • Provide input on organizational policies and programs
  • Hold leadership accountable through regular engagement
